Thomas F. Gould presented "The Evil Soul in Plato's Laws" at the meeting of the Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy with the American Philological Association in Chicago in 1955. He did not publish this paper, but his book The Ancient Quarrel between Poetry and Philosophy, Princeton University Press 1990, touches on related issues in Plato's Laws.
