- Comments from Secretary, R.K. Sprague 1953-1956
- Rosamond Kent Sprague writes the following concerning the first meeting of the Society: "The meeting was a great success. The paper (on Anaximander) was excellent and we had some good discussion. Mr. Kaiser (a friend of Gregory Vlastos) was chairman for that part and Mr. Vlastos ran the business meeting. We finally decided to be called the Society for Ancient Greek Philosophy and he (GV) and I were elected President and Secretary, also program committee.”
- John Robinson, Windham College, “Anaximander and the Problem of the Earth’s Immobility”
- NOTE: Robinson's paper was later published in John P. Anton & George Kustas, eds. 1971. Essays in Ancient Greek Philosophy vol. 1, SUNY, 111-118. This is the paper on Anaximander mentioned by R. K. Sprague, above.
