Harpur Palate: a Literary Journal

Volume 9, Number 2 (2010)
The second issue of Harpur Palate’s ninth volume contains bright and complex cover art — the cover being credited to Paul Rogers, who creates his pieces through the use of mediums such as spray paint, acrylics, oils and more. This issue opens with the announcement of “The Owl” by Ruth Thompson winning “The Milt Kessler Memorial Prize For Poetry.” Other pieces written by Thompson have won other awards such as a new Millennium Writings Poetry Award in 2007, and have appeared in the Comstock Review, the Naugatuck River Review and more. Thompson’s “The Owl” explores the ideas of how an owl’s characteristics can relate to those of human experiences — creating a powerful and thought-provoking piece in this issue.
