Abstract
This dissertation is divided into two main sections. The first of these is a treatment of this research from both the conceptual and the analytical points of view. These parts of the discussion encompass Sections II through VI. In these sections, the techniques used in obtaining the experimental values are alluded to but are not necessarily presented in detail. These details are to be found in the second main division of the dissertation--namely, in the various appendices. Numerous cross—references appear throughout the dissertation, and it is helpful to the reader to familiarize himself with the topics found in all sections (see Table of Contents) prior to a study of the dissertation in general.
