Harpur Palate: a Literary Journal
Volume 8, Number 2 (2009)
Volume eight, issue two features photography from John Baird, depicting dream-like landscapes and subjects, and noting the surrealist qualities that are lurking in our everyday surroundings. In tandem with this collection are the equally surrealist landscapes written by Desmond Kon, first-ever winner in both the Poetry and Visionary Fiction categories at the Beverly Hills International Book Awards and has many works internationally published; Claire McQuerry, whose poems and essays have appeared in Gettysburg Review, Poetry Northwest, American Literary Review, and many other journals; and Brynn Saito, featured in Vogue’s “Memory Keepers: Japanese American Internment Survivors and Descendants Speak Out,” and is a recipient of the California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship. The artists of this issue do not refrain from being a witness to their demise, an observer to their transformations, or an instigator to their quandaries.
